Welcome!
Welcome to Modern Daisy Hippee!
What’s it all about anyway?
I initially started this blog when I started gardening. Getting my garden set up brought all kinds of issues to my attention… the food supply machine & how it’s designed for quantity with absolutely no concern for quality (especially with regard to nutritional value, which is completely ludicrous since food is fuel for our bodies!), the difficulty in finding organic AND non-genetically-modified seeds & why it matters, etc, etc.
I had already been concerned about chemicals in food, household products & personal care products. That’s why I was gardening in the first place. Now I opened this entirely new can of worms & to be quite honest, I wanted to put that cat back in the bag because it seemed totally overwhelming… so I get it if you feel the same way. Trust me though, it gets better & easier. I know, I’ve been there.
Of course, I couldn’t un-know what I had discovered & in learning more, I found solutions. Even simple solutions. I’m not solving every challenge world-wide, however I am doing what I can, step by step, to make my own life & the lives of those around me a little better every day. When I do something small, like take my own bag to my favorite take-out place, I’m not only saving that bit of trash I would be tossing, I’m bringing awareness to others around me as well… maybe they’ll see me do it & follow suit.
I am learning & doing more (or less in some cases) to live more in harmony with nature instead of against it. I am sharing these experiences with the intention of raising awareness & with the purpose of making it easier for others to make the same kinds of small changes… that will ultimately make a big difference.
Hey, I like convenience as much as the next person. I just think we often go about our days, blindly following after one another with little regard for the greater consequences of our actions. I also have an inkling that making small changes could make a big difference & that it won’t be that hard to take on making those changes little by little. In fact, as I’m updating this page, I can tell you I’ve already implemented many such small changes & it’s not that hard… it’s just a matter of changing habits. We are all perfectly capable of this, I promise.
